Thinking in systems. Building with purpose.

About

Studying history and environmental ethics in college impressed on me how far humanity has come, and how far we still need to go to make a world that works for everyone. It made me a critical systems thinker and deeply aware of the challenges facing the world. I saw that that meaningful change requires both understanding complex systems and building solutions sustainably.

After completing my bachelor's degree, I went back to school to pursue a medical degree and trained as an EMT with the goal of committing my work to save lives. I switched to engineering because I saw software becoming embedded in every industry, core to the development of sustainable technologies and advanced medicine, and its potential to reach even more people. That realization committed me to a mission of doing the most good I can with my career.

Over the past 13 years, I've worked across edtech, sustainability, and fintech as an engineer, engineering manager, and open-source contributor. Beyond software engineering I've worked as a sustainability advocate, mentor, and champion for mental health and suicide prevention awareness.

Today I run Integrative R&D, a multidisciplinary consulting practice that helps teams and organizations solve complex technical and organizational challenges. I also lead SPEC, an open learning collective I co-founded that provides diverse communities the resources and opportunities to build skills, develop careers, and become leaders of sustainable social impact.
